Being Who and What You Are

The individual genetic variation between each of us human beings is infinitesimal. Negligible. In fact, not only do our genes at birth not determine who we are, our genetic "blueprint" is constantly changing in response to the experiences we have in our lives, as these experiences are mediated through our brain to produce physical and psychological responses.

What determines the differences between us is the experiences that we have had to date, the patterns that have been overlaid upon previous patterns and the way those patterns now interact with our current circumstances. All personality differences, all physical differences, all neurological and even most genetic differences between us are a result of the the different collection of conflicts and joys we have each experienced.

When next you look at your fellow being and think "why is he that way? Why can't he be more like me?" remember that there but for the grace of the gods go you. Had you been born under the same star from ancestral stock that had come from the same time and place and then had the same precise experiences in your life, you would not only be like that other person, you would actually be that other person.

The only difference between you and I is the accumulation of experiences that the mind-body instrument known as "you" has had and the differences between that and the accumulation of experiences that the mind-body instrument known as "me" has had.

The mind-body, as complex and amazing as it is, is just a robot to the higher self, or "God."

Enlightenment is just a matter of being aware of this fact. Enlightenment is not believing in being super-extra-special. Enlightenment is knowing that every single being in the manifest universe is just a pixel on the (extremely) big-screen TV of God.

The sense of being super-extra-special is just the identity or ego of the pixel. On the big-screen TV of God.
